FFT-PEEC: A Fast Tool From CAD to Power Electronics Simulations

A fast and general partial element equivalent circuit (PEEC) method based on the Fourier transform (FFT) is proposed for first time. The numerical tool only requires common CAD data input files (e.g., $.\text{stl}$ format), then discretization process performed automatically by means of a voxelization technique ray intersection, thus, drastically reducing human effort required to setup model. allows considering at same time inductive capacitive effects, focused power electronics applications where propagation effects can be neglected, whereas all other electromagnetic phenomena are considered. Specifically, particularly suited problems both electric magnetic fields equally important and, therefore, quasistatic approximations do not apply. An ad-hoc preconditioner which significantly speeds-up solver also thanks FFT, memory computation reduced, without need applying compression. Both linear nonlinear materials considered FFT-PEEC method. Sample implementation made publicly available.
